Come network and earn CPE credits at the next ISSA Pittsburgh Chapter meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 2015. ISM will be in attendance along with two of our partners, Exabeam and CyberArk, who will be presenting on topics including how to leverage User Behavior Analytics for detecting threats and understanding the impact of privileged accounts and credentials as the primary attack vector.
The new season begins on Tuesday September 1st. We will have 2 presenters for our lunch meetings this season. Registration is at 10:30 am and the first presentation starts at 11:00 am.
The first presentation Greg Parda, from Exabeam, will present ‘User Behavior Intelligence Fundamentals: Behaviors, Characteristics, and Facts’. The presentation should give the attendees insight into User Behavior Analytics, what it is, how UBA could have helped in some of our recent breaches as well as the value of UBA to the enterprise security team.
We’ll take a break around noon to grab some lunch then a Mark Nafe, Sales Engineer for CyberArk, will speak on ‘Targeted Attacks and the Privileged Pivot’. Analysis of the latest attacks on large enterprises has determined that one of the most common patterns is the commandeering of privileged accounts to gain access to an intended target, then escalating privileges to move laterally throughout the network to higher value targets. This presentation will examine primary attack vectors, such as privileged accounts and credentials, and provide insight into the code that is launched, including snippets that enable access to more devices (lateral movement). The session will explain common weaknesses in enterprise security defenses and provide advice for remediating and closing these vulnerabilities. The discussion will put recent breaches in context of broader cyber-attack patterns, and provide lessons learned based on attackers’ typical timeline of activities.
After the second presenter there will be a drawing for $50 AMEX gift card. The winner must be present to claim the prize or we will redraw.
There will be 2 CPE given to attendees of the lunch meetings.
Registration will begin at 10:30 am, first presentation starts at 11:00 am.
